Seminar - Corporate Governance: When Neglect Becomes a Liability
Fullerton Hotel Sydney (Formerly The Westin), Grand Ballroom, 1 Martin Place Sydney
Tuesday, November 26, 2019 -
16:00 to 19:30
This 2019 FCX event follows last year’s successful CEO Whistleblower event.
When does an executive or board member’s nightmare become a reality? In many instances it is the Australian media that is shining the light on the failures of corporate governance in our markets; from corporate collapses and corruption scandals to system misconduct and governance failings. Investigative journalists have become the voice of employees, shareholders and customers when governance fails.
The shadow of the royal commission still looms on our financial services industry with the broader governance issues raised permeating throughout the entire business community. What does this mean for Boards and executive management?
Keynote speaker, award winning investigative journalist, Adele Ferguson, will discuss the most significant examples of boards or executives ‘getting it wrong’ whether through neglect, inaction or simply being left in the dark.
4:00pm – 4:30pm: Registration
4:30pm – 6:30pm: Presentation and panel
6:30pm – 7:30pm: Canapés and refreshments

Adele will then be joined by an expert panel to answer your questions and explore the past, the present and the future of corporate governance in Australia. Most importantly, our experts will share their insights on how boards and executives can get on the front foot and ensure they are the first to know, not the last to know when things go wrong. The expert panel will be moderated by Angus Grigg of the AFR.
