Bank for International Settlements Releases Conference Papers on the Relationship Between Financial Regulation and Growth

The Bank for International Settlements has released a collection of 10 papers from a conference held in November 2011 on the relationship between financial regulation and growth, equity and stability. The preface argues that the benefits of financial stability will surely outweigh the loss of short-term gains, with the costs of instability in terms of lost growth and welfare so large. With the relationship between growth and stability currently dominating market discussion, these papers which deal with links between the financial sector and the rest of the economy, macroeconomic policy, too-big-to-fail, and macro-prudential policy, amongst other themes, offer an introduction and insight into some crucial policy issues for financial regulation.
