ASIC has released the first of its new quarterly series of data relating to Australia's cash equity market. The data comprises a set of indicators of market characteristics and efficiencies calculated from ASIC's market surveillance system. These indicators will provide a quarterly representation of the entire market landscape that is not otherwise available.

ASIC Deputy Chairman Belinda Gibson said the additional information will further inform the discussion on market developments. ‘This initiative is consistent with ASIC's promotion of fair and transparent markets, and confident and informed investors’, Ms Gibson said.
