ASIC has permanently banned an insurance broker after it found he engaged in misleading and deceptive conduct. ASIC found that Mr John Andrew Barr had fabricated three insurance certificates, an insurance policy schedule and an email purporting to be from an insurance provider. Mr Barr also falsified an email and made representations as to insurance cover level. The potential exposure that Mr Barr’s clients faced as a result of his conduct was in excess of $40 million.
